The Michigan Towing Association has gathered to use its strength in numbers to work with the Michigan
State Legislature and with the Michigan State Police to improve wrecker operations throughout the State of
Michigan. The Association provides an opportunity to meet owners and employees from other Michigan towing
companies, and to share ideas and knowledge that can improve the daily operations of your business.
The MTA was the first trucking association in this country. It is the oldest association of wrecker
companies in the United States, with its genesis occurring in 1941. It was incorporated in the mid-50's and
has continued to be one of the leading towing organizations in the United States.
The MTA is composed of more than 120 companies specializing in the towing industry. Ninety percent (90%)of
our members are towing companies engaged in the daily transportation of wrecked and disabled vehicles. The
Association meets ten times a year on the second Wednesday of the month. For a listing of our meeting times
and locations, click here.
Whenever the need arises, the Association sponsors seminars and training meetings to acquaint its members
with changes in the law and operations. We have sponsored light duty training schools, heavy duty training
schools, CDL training and DOT drug testing seminars, among others. These programs are repeated periodically
for the benefit of new members and new entrants into the industry.
